arristumbler asked: wow! I really like your work. It´s like a mirror. I recognize my self in some line, some shadow,.. even in some context. Today it´s a nice day!!! thanks a lot!
It’s easy to get discouraged in art….
Occasionally someone will say something like this…and it keeps you going.
vietnaaam asked: I admire your work; where are your skeletons sourced from?
All the animals I use are road-kill or have died of natural causes. I find the cadavers whole and process them down to skeletons.
I think it’s important to recognize that sourced skeletons, taxidermy, etc are often taken by unethical means and it’s nearly impossible to guarantee where and how an animal is obtained. I’m not interested in using animal ephemera just for the sake of animal form (that could be obtained from plaster, wood, clay etc…), I’m more interested in the idea of re-purposing a thing that is generally viewed as vile garbage (a corpse) and making it new through the art process.
Animals are amazing, and killing them to make art is just silly
